Programme Descriptions
The MA in English (Literary Studies) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is an intensive taught programme, one year for full-time students and two years for part-time students. This programme is intended for those who have had some exposure to the study of English literature and who have a strong interest to attain deeper understanding of literature written in English and of the intellectual and artistic traditions of English-speaking cultures.
Goals and Objectives
The MA degree in English Literary Studies will deepen students’ understanding of the various genres of literature as well as enhance their critical thinking skills; it will also develop their understanding of the range of structures and ideas found in the finest English-language writing. By being given opportunities to explore literature analytically as well as creatively, students can further their educational and career objectives in all fields requiring knowledge of the intricacies of the English language. The English Department has an internationally renowned Literary Studies faculty and The Chinese University of Hong Kong contains excellent facilities, including library resources.
