The Department of English at The Chinese University of Hong Kong successfully organized the 2026 International Conference on English-medium Education (EME) on 7–8 May 2026 at the Yasumoto International Academic Park. The hybrid event attracted approximately hundreds onsite and online participants from Hong Kong and overseas. The conference featured a distinguished group of local and international speakers and panelists from institutions including King’s College London, Stockholm University, the University of Copenhagen, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, The University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong, the University of Macau, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Under the theme “Navigating English-medium Education in the Digital Age: Multilingualism, AI, and Academic Literacy,” the conference explored emerging issues related to multilingualism, generative AI, disciplinary literacy, teacher development, and digital pedagogy in EME contexts. The event included keynote talks, research presentations, panel discussions by journal and book series editors, and a closed-door roundtable on future research agendas. The conference generated many stimulating discussions among speakers, researchers, students, and audience members, with participants highlighting the conference as a highly successful and intellectually engaging event that fostered international collaboration and meaningful exchange of ideas.
