Major Programme Requirement for Senior Year Entrants

Applicable to students admitted in 2025-26

Students are required to complete a minimum of 57 units of courses as follows:

1) Required Courses
21 Units
2) Elective Courses
36 Units
Total: 57

Stream

Students may declare the following stream in their 2nd or 3rd year of study and complete at least 18 units of courses listed below in their choice of courses in fulfilling the major programme requirement. When the requisite courses have been completed, the Stream will be indicated in the academic transcript and a certificate issued by the Department will be provided.

 

1) Creative Writing

Explanatory Notes:

  1. Students who have completed the courses ENGE1310, 1320 and 3100 will be eligible to apply for exemption of 2 units of University Core English Language Requirement for Associate Degree holders and 5 units of University Core English Language Requirement for Higher Diploma holders.
    Students are required to apply for the exemption. When exemption from a particular course is recognized, students can only be exempted from the course but not the units.
  2. ENGE courses at 2000 and above level will be included in the calculation of Major GPA for honours classification.
